Fees and financial

Visual Exhibition
Currently we pay $2000 for a solo gallery exhibition, $1000 each for a two-person show, and from $200 to $400 each (depending on the # of pieces) for group shows. Fees are payable on the exhibition opening. Artist fees include copyright for the grunt website, brunt magazine and brunt online.

In addition, we provide up to $500 for exhibition expenses, which include: gallery labels; installation costs; repainting the gallery (apart from regular white); one-way shipping of work; poster or invitation printing; performance fees for opening performance; publishing of an artist's or curator's statement or artist's interview, etc. It does not include fabrication of artworks, framing, or material costs for these expenses. Grunt provides a no-host bar for each opening. If your project requires more resources than usual, you will need to lay this out in your proposal.

Performance
Currently we pay $250 for a cabaret performance, $800 for repertory or repeat performance and $1200 for original or one-off performance. We will negotiate higher fees if time and expense warrant them. Grunt includes technical requirements and rentals, within reason. We provide one technician to assist the artists during performance. Artist slide talk fees are $200.

Writers fees are $300 to $2000, depending on project funding etc.

Documentation

The gallery documents all exhibitions for our archives. Artists will receive a selection of these slides upon request. Documentation is largely installation shots and does not include shots of individual pieces. Artists can document individual elements of the exhibition themselves.

Performance documentation consists of b/w photographs and videotape.

Insurance

We have insurance to a maximum of $20,000 per exhibition. In the event of a claim, the artist is responsible for the $1000 deductible (we have never had an insurance claim for artwork). Transportation to and from the gallery is your responsibility unless otherwise arranged. Please provide a list with insurance values one to two weeks prior to exhibition.

Publicity

General publicity for the exhibition is the responsibility of grunt gallery. Publicity includes: listings, brochures, press releases, and write-ups in brunt magazine, brunt online, and on the gallery website.

Grunt is not responsible for approaching reviewers.

Sales

The gallery does not sell work but the artist can. We can direct buyers to you. We need a price list. We also request a 15% donation on work sold through the exhibition. This does not include people on the artist's guest list or previous collectors and supporters.
